The Lenovo ZUK Z1 got its first official Lollipop update very recently, that includes the latest Android 5.1.1 version. Firmware Update Z122218 is already rolling out to China. It includes firmware F611CAMM, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The upgrade comes with all the features added in the stable build of Android. Hence, the major reason for the official release is to bring a stable build of the OS to the ZUK Z1.

As we mentioned above, the major highlight of this firmware is the inclusion of full Google Play access. It now comes with the Google Now Launcher pre-installed as well, and Lenovo confirmed that there will be more features in the upcoming Android 5.1.2 firmware update. The firmware will include other Google apps such as Play Store, Gmail, Calendar, etc. Lenovo also claimed that it will add hardware features to ZUK Z1 such as fingerprint scanner, notification LED, etc. with this Lollipop update. Other than the Google apps, the majority of the features have been already seen on the UI of this device, like the new Action app, etc.

The new ROM comes with a bunch of goodies, the most noticeable and interesting feature of which, being a throwback to the past is the only one I can see, the global navigation key. The Google Apps like Chrome and the Play Store will come as default apps when the phone boots up. The launcher comes with a lot of customizations, especially the widgets (the screen background) to make the phone look more like OnePlus One. The key of the ROM is that the launcher is based on AMOLED stock software, so the screen is much brighter compared to the default software.
